Princeton Tweed 5F2A 1957

The Princeton Tweed’s history begins in 1946 with the “Woody” era—the true “grandparents” of the line. Following the natural evolution of other Tweed models, it went through the “TV Front” era from 1948-1952 (5A2, 5B2 circuits) and the “Wide Panel” era from 1953-1955 (5C2, 5D2 circuits), finally arriving at the “Narrow Panel” era from 1955-1960. The final circuit, the 5F2A, is considered the pinnacle and most iconic model of the Princeton Tweed line.

Despite its modest output of approximately 5 watts, the 5F2A is capable of producing a surprising variety of tones, from a well-defined clean sound to a harmonic saturation that many guitarists consider the “ultimate recording tone.”
